EPI Routine Immunization Schedule & Vaccines
- BCG Vaccine: Prevents Childhood Tuberculosis (TB), given at birth, 0.05ml intradermal in the left upper arm.
- Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV): Given at Birth (OPV-0), 6 weeks (OPV-1), 10 weeks (OPV-2), and 14 weeks (OPV-3).
- Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV): Given at 14 weeks (IPV-1) and 9 months (IPV-2).
- Pentavalent Vaccine (DTP-HepB-Hib): Protects against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, and Haemophilus Influenzae type B. Given at 6, 10, and 14 weeks (0.5ml IM).
- Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV): Given at 6, 10, and 14 weeks (0.5ml IM).
- Rotavirus Vaccine: Given orally at 6 and 10 weeks to prevent severe diarrheal dehydration.
- Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV): Given at 9 months (0.5ml IM).
- Measles-Rubella Vaccine (MR): Dose 1 at 9 months, Dose 2 at 15 months (0.5ml Subcutaneous).
- Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) for Pregnant Women: 5-dose schedule to eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.
Vaccine Cold Chain Management
All routine EPI vaccines must be stored and transported between +2°C and +8°C in Ice-Lined Refrigerators (ILR) and cold boxes. Freeze-sensitive vaccines (Pentavalent, PCV, Td, HepB) must never be frozen. Vaccine Vial Monitors (VVM) track cumulative heat exposure across stages 1 to 4.
